BRAF gene, located on the 7th chromosome, is a proto-oncogene which encodes a protein belonging to serine / threonine protein kinase raf/mil family. BRAF gene mutations occur in a variety of cancers, including non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, colorectal cancer (10%), malignant melanoma (>60%), thyroid cancer (90%), and non-small cell lung cancer (1-4%).
